Brent Independent Travel Training

Independent travel training (ITT) supports young people in developing an important skill for life. ITT has a positive effect on the lives of young people, as well as those around them. Successful travel training enables young people to open their lives to more opportunities for education, employment and social activities.

ITT increases confidence, independence and choice for young people.

The ITT programme

The individualised travel training programme includes:

KCIL – the Independent Living Charity

Brent Independent Travel Training is a service provided by Independent Living charity KCIL.

Campaigning for choice and control and the chance to live independently in the local community, KCIL has roots dating back to the 1960s. Today KCIL supports disabled people to live independently across the London boroughs of Kingston, Richmond, Sutton and Brent.

Meet the Brent Travel Training Team

Natalie Pond – Independent Travel Trainer

I have worked in the education sector for over 12 years with young people with SEND in schools, colleges, and the community.

My enthusiasm for supporting young people with SEND comes from my work and life experiences, I believe they deserve to live independently and confidently in society, and with the right support this is possible.

I am excited to be part of their support system through the Travel Training Programme and to help make a tangible difference in their lives.

Nicola Sakkas – Travel Training Coordinator

I have worked in the not-for-profit sector for over 15 years’ within a wide range of organisations.  I am passionate about creating equitable opportunities for disabled individuals, ensuring they have access to the resources, support, and independence they deserve. My experience in social impact, stakeholder engagement, and fundraising has given me insight into the challenges faced by marginalised communities, and I am motivated to use my skills to drive real change.

I am excited to be part of their support system through the Travel Training Programme and to help make a tangible difference in their lives.
