Brent Independent Travel Training

Independent travel training (ITT) supports young people in developing an important skill for life. ITT has a positive effect on the lives of young people, as well as those around them. Successful travel training enables young people to open their lives to more opportunities for education, employment and social activities.

ITT increases confidence, independence and choice for young people.

The ITT programme

The individualised travel training programme includes:

KCIL – the Independent Living Charity

Brent Independent Travel Training is a service provided by Independent Living charity KCIL.

Campaigning for choice and control and the chance to live independently in the local community, KCIL has roots dating back to the 1960s. Today KCIL supports disabled people to live independently across the London boroughs of Kingston, Richmond, Sutton and Brent.

Meet the Brent Travel Training Team

Chryston Montenegro – Independent Travel Trainer

My name is Chryston Montenegro, and I’m delighted to be joining the KCIL team as a Brent Travel Trainer. I’ve spent many years working in youth work, education, and supporting individuals with SEN, and I’m excited to bring that experience to KCIL. From my very first visit to the KCIL office, it was clear that the team is not only passionate but truly united in their commitment to empowering the people they support. I’m grateful to be joining such a dedicated group and look forward to contributing to the fantastic work the charity already does for the local community and beyond.

Natalina Watson – Independent Travel Trainer

I have worked 17 years within youth services and the education sector helping young people who have social and emotional needs in their homes, schools and the community I’ve also worked as behaviour mentor and LSA.

I am passionate about working with young people within the community because of my own life experience growing up in the London borough of Brent I can relate to some of the difficulties that a young person may encounter. I think it’s crucial that young people with SEND understand how to travel confidently on their own in the community and feel comfortable doing so with the correct support, so I’m thrilled to be a part of the travel training team and to be sharing the skills I’ve accumulated over the years.

I look forward to bringing patience, positivity, and strong mentoring skills to KCIL while helping young people develop greater independence and access more opportunities within their community. I am excited to be part of such a passionate and supportive team that is dedicated to helping young people with SEN build confidence and independence.
