A year after completing Brent Independent Travel Training, one young person is thriving at college and travelling confidently by Tube and bus.
He is now finishing his first year at college and continues to make the journey there and back independently. When Tube strikes disrupt his usual route, he is also able to travel both ways by bus.
More recently, he has begun attending weekly workshops in Willesden, travelling there independently by bus. His parent told us how the confidence, practical skills and safety awareness developed through his training are helping him build an increasingly independent future.
“He is currently finishing his first year in college and is doing well. He has continued traveling there and back on the tube and when needed (tube strikes) on the bus, also both ways.
He has gained this pride and independence thanks to your training, and he is continuing trying new things while remembering all the safety advice you instilled in him.
Recently he also started workshops in Willesden once a week and he travels there by himself on the bus as well.
All this practice and training you provided initially to my son is blooming into an independent future.
We are very grateful for how you were able to introduce our son to independent traveling in a way that did not scare him. You made him feel secure, well equipped and brave.”
