Payroll Providers
A payroll provider helps you manage your PA’s wages.
They work out how much your PA should be paid, including tax and National Insurance, and provide payslips for you and your PA.
You can choose your own payroll provider. Some payroll providers charge a fee for their services, which can be paid from your Direct Payment, while others are free.

KCIL, in partnership with Money Carer, also offers a payroll service. Talk to us if you would like to find out more.
Insurance
Employers’ liability insurance protects you if your PA is injured or becomes ill because of their work.
It helps cover legal costs or compensation.
This insurance is a legal requirement for anyone who employs a PA.
The cost of your employers’ liability insurance is included in your Direct Payment package.

There are many companies that offer employers’ liability insurance. It is your choice which provider you use. Your local council may have providers they work with, but you can choose the one that suits you best.
Enhanced DBS
An enhanced DBS check helps make sure your PA is safe to work with you.
It shows if they have a criminal record or are not allowed to work with vulnerable people.
KCIL can carry out the DBS check for your PA and guide you through the process if needed. Contact KCIL on 020 8546 9603 or email [email protected].
Proof of right to work in UK
If you employ a PA, you must make sure they have the right to work in the UK.
This means checking official documents, such as a passport or visa.
KCIL can guide you on which documents are needed and how to check them correctly.
Training for your PA
KCIL regularly provides training courses for PAs to help them improve their skills.
Check our Events page for the latest course dates and details.
