AFM has complex needs, and is non-verbal, but she understands what is said to her. She understands Makaton language.

A driving licence and a car would be beneficial but is not required for the right candidate.

A valid DBS – this can be done by the employer if you do not currently possess one.

Main Responsibilities:

Unique Job Number: JEU1 Personal Assistant/ Support Worker

KCIL is looking for a Personal Assistant/Support Worker to support a 27-year-old man with daytime care to include full support with dressing, mealtimes, washing and personal care. JEU is non-verbal and has severe learning disabilities. The tasks would include personal care, going for short outings (local shops, café). Must have ability to offer simple play activities at home (favourite toys, musical books) and must be able to actively engage with JEU. He is very sociable and requires positive, happy, fun support. JEU lives at home with his parents. 

The ideal PA will be patient, good-humoured, vigilant, understanding and will pay attention to the details of the care required. The role is quite physically demanding so it would be useful to be a naturally active person. Judicious use of mobile phone required during working hours.

Unique Job Number: AKA1 Personal care Assistant required by a disabled man in Chessington

This position is to work with a 51-year-old man who works full-time for local government in town planning. He needs a Personal “care” Assistant who can also work flexibly and to be hands on when required. He enjoys good conversation, DIY, technology, theatre, music, cinema and being with family and friends. Your role is to assist the PA User to lead his life based on his individual choice.
 
No experience is required for this position as comprehensive training is provided: you will need to have common sense, be reliable, reasonably fit and healthy with a positive, can-do attitude and good communication skills.
 
Personal Assistants provide all personal care, domestic and practical support. The includes:
 
·         All personal care: dressing; bathing; going to the toilet, feeding, etc
 
·         A waking night shift (you must be able to wake easily – a recliner chair is provided to rest whilst on-call)
 
·         Light housework and practical tasks
 
Accompanying to visit friends, family, meetings, etc
Personal Assistants need to be flexible, trustworthy and be willing to learn and open to new ideas. This is an active and interesting position and provides plenty of opportunities to gain new skills and have unique and varied work experiences.
